  The BOLD (Building Our Leaders in Dentistry) Program is a pre-dental mentorship and outreach initiative designed to introduce dentistry as a career pathway, strengthen the pipeline into the profession, and help increase representation within the dental profession. At the heart of BOLD is mentorship and connection. The program is designed to connect pre-dental students with HSDA student chapters and professional HDA chapters, creating opportunities to build relationships with dental students, dentists, mentors, and leaders who can provide guidance throughout their educational and professional journey. BOLD outreach presentations, workshop, and mentorship activities may be may be tailored for students at a variety of educational levels, from Head Start and elementary school through high school and undergraduate programs.These experiences are designed to increase exposure to oral health careers, provide meaningful mentorship, and help students better understand the many educational and professional pathways available within dentistry. There are no specific requirements to participate. What matters most is a genuine interest in dentistry, a commitment to mentorship and outreach, and a desire to serve Hispanic and other underserved communities. Pre-dental students can join BOLD for a $25 annual membership fee, which provides access to exclusive BOLD opportunities, programming, and resources throughout the year. Through the support of partner organizations, HDA offers BOLD Grants ranging from $250 to $1,000 to help support HSDA and HDA chapter initiatives focused on outreach, career exploration, mentorship, and education. These grants help us create meaningful opportunities that introduce students to the diverse oral health career pathways while also giving members the chance to serve and give back to their community. Applications are accepted throughout the year, and funding is awarded based on availability.
